Cuso International is a development organization that works to reduce poverty and inequality through the efforts of highly skilled volunteers, collaborative partnerships and compassionate donors. Cuso International works in developing countries across the world. They currently have programs in eighteen countries.

The volunteer with help build the capacity of the organization by providing assistance to fundraising, women’s rights advocacy as well as reporting on Gender Based Violence Cases. Work directly with staff to come up with the organization strategic document highlighting key focus areas of intervention, including prospects of potential donors and partners. Analyze the capacity development needs for the advocacy strategy development and action planning. The objective is to increase opportunities and access to education and jobs for Tavoyan women. Together with staff, develop advocacy tools packages for international, national and local audiences and promote knowledge sharing within the organization to make sure that the organization and partners are familiar with the advocacy tools. Supporting the organization in building team capacity, reporting and finalizing annual/quarterly reports.

Essential Academic Qualifications

–Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to HR management and Organizational Behavior.

Essential Professional Background/Competencies

– Proven ability to establish collaborative relationships with senior leaders and leading organizational change associated with implementation
– 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, with a proven track record of establishing and leading new initiatives from the ground up.
– Experience teaching English as a second language.
– Capacity to assess, develop, and implement sustainable HR processes and guidelines in alignment with organizational needs
– Organizational Development and program strategy experience
– Strong presentation and facilitation skills
– Demonstrated experience of working in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams
– Ability to work alongside an interpreter and patience in ensuring effective communication, particularly with technical speech.

Desirable Academic Qualifications

–M.A. in HR Management or related studies, working knowledge of at least two HR Management platforms.

Desirable Professional Background/Competencies

– 10 years or more of HR experience, covering progressive leadership roles.
– Experience of developing/training others in developing HR policies
– Proficiency in Access, Excel, and HR platforms, and IT training skills
– Previous high level HR Business and/or government advisor experience.
– Experience of working in a developing country and/or with the inclusion of minority groups
– Working knowledge of Burmese language.

Important information for candidates

Cuso International covers the following costs:
– Return airfare and visa/permit costs
– Accommodation while overseas
– Modest living allowance while overseas
– Modest support for accompanying partners and dependents going on placement with you for 12 months or longer
– The cost of required vaccinations, antimalarial medication and health insurance
– Access to Employee Assistance Program while overseas and upon return
– Travel and accommodation for reintegration debriefing weekend
– Travel and accommodation for the five-day pre-departure training course and in-country training orientation

Fundraising: They will ask each volunteer, regardless of placement length, to raise $2,000. All volunteers receive support from Cuso International to help achieve the goal through fundraising. If the volunteer chooses not to fund raise or is unable to achieve the fundraising goal, he/she can make a one-time donation or become a monthly donor to support the work.

E-volunteering: Depending on the nature of the placement volunteers are encouraged to provide e-volunteering support to the local partner or Cuso International before or after the field placement.
